The Joint

Hey, Cam and I are starting a joint blog... you can get to the new blog by clicking here.  So change your links so that they go to that blog instead of this one!  Sorry for the inconvenience!

DISNEYLAND!

Well, we had a riot at Disneyland!  That was the second time that Cam and I were able to go, and it was so much fun!  We have been home a little over a week, but the last week was crazy, so I never had time to update the old blog!  Anyway, back to the trip...  Anaheim was experiencing unusually cold weather, so it was in the 50s.  I was actually really cold!  I wore long pants and a sweat shirt and was still chilly.  Cam, on the other hand, thought that it was fabulous.  Because it was so "cold," there really weren't a lot of people in either of the parks (Disneyland or California Adventure), so we got to go on all the rides a bunch of times.  The longest wait was Peter Pan (I LOVE that one!) and that was only like 15 minutes.  So great!  I do have to say, The Matterhorn is NOT fun.  I still have a big bruise on my knee from it, which is crazy because I got that bruise on February 22nd.  We had so much time (because there were no lines!) that we went on all the little kid rides as well.  I think people thought we were crazy (which isn't entirely inaccurate), but it was so fun!  We didn't take a lot of pictures, but here's one of Cam

My sister Stacy and her family left for Disneyland the day that we were leaving Anaheim.  So we all met up in Vegas to go to dinner at the RainForest Cafe.  My cute little nephew Braxton had never been to Disneyland, and he didn't know that they were going.  He thought they were going to "Phoenix, California to meet Grandpa's friend mouse."  While Cam and I were in CA we took some pictures as we walked to Disneyland.  Then we showed the pictures to Brax in Vegas so that he'd figure out where they were when they got to Disneyland.  I took a picture of these big green cones that line the path, and when he saw the cones he said, "Green cones!  Jenny said green cones were at..." and they asked him where he thought they were and he yelled "DISNEYLAND!"  Thanks Jer for recording it so I could see that cute little grin!  Here is Brax in Vegas pulling his Thomas suitcase with his puppy Gary Spongebobber in tow!  I love that kid!

What a shame...

This picture is so sad. It has officially been so long since I did laundry that we don't have any clean towels. We've resorted to using beach towels. The sad thing, pardon me, one of the sad things about this is that the one with the white flowers is Cam's. I guess that's to be expected when you've been sick for 3 months. I guess I should have capitalized on one of my Mom's many offers to come over and do my laundry or the dishes or to clean! My Mom is the best! Of course I wouldn't let her do that, but she sure did try. Cam felt bad and said that he should have been doing the laundry, but he's been way too busy taking care of me and watching movies with me so I don't get bored! However, I am happy to report that I am doing much better! This week has been great! My doctor put me on a steroid inhaler, and that has made a really big difference! YEAH! Now I don't get winded when I walk up half a flight of stairs, or when I'm trying to eat!

On a happier note, I had a super fun night with the girls last night! Kristi June Jenson is my sister-in-law's little sister. She is super cute and lots of fun. She tended my brother and sister-in-law's kids last night, and she decided that we should all have a fondue party after the kids went to sleep. So Stacy, Julie and I headed over! We had excellent fondue! We got laughing so hard and just had a very fun night! I love hanging out with those three gals! We have Family Night with my family tonight, so I'm sure we'll have a very fun (and comical) night!

And then there was me.

First things first, I am going to miss President Hinckley! He has had a profound impact on my life, and I am so grateful that we all had such a wonderful example to look to for so long! I absolutely loved his sense of humor and quick wit. I also loved the twinkle he'd get in his eye when he'd crack a joke. I'm not going to lie though, I am so happy that he gets to be with his cute wife again, and rest for a little while! I also think it is neat to watch the church continue to move forward. But I have such respect and love for President Hinckley, and will miss him dearly.

On Saturday we had a big company-wide meeting at the WSU Davis Campus. This meeting is once a year and generally consists of various people speaking: usually a guest speaker, 4 senior vice presidents (the CEO, CFO, COO, and IT Manager), one vice president, and this year... me. Lovely. I was scared silly because we have almost 300 employees and this is a pretty formal meeting. I have had a really rough winter (bronchitis-which I got the week before Thanksgiving and still have...) and didn't have much of a voice at all. I got up to the podium and made some joke about how I would be talking about the wellness program but was obviously sick and everyone thought it was super funny. I forgot how much people appreciate even small attempts at humor during meetings like that. So it's been a really fun week and I've been working hard on the wellness program. Did I mention that I am officially the wellness coordinator at my place of employment? I have been doing a little mini program with people who signed up since last August, but now it's official and includes all employees and I even have a budget! Wahoo! I can't believe how much fun I am having with it. Anyway, off to the cabin again this weekend, so I've included a picture of our last trip!

Cam's New Shoes

It's no secret that I'm awful at blogging, but I decided I'd hurry and post something to start the new year off right. I'm home from work with the flu, so I have time to kill! I think this picture is hilarious! Last Thursday we had a party at my parent's house because my Uncle Scott and my cousin Josh were visiting from Maryland. Josh is starting college at BYU-Idaho, and so they stopped by for a few days to visit us before Josh had to head off to school. Anyway, Ethan and Braxton sat on Cam's feet and he just kept walking around. The boys thought it was hilarious! Then on Friday night we had a sleep over at the Chidester's house. We played my new game Quelf (which is totally random) and here are a few of my favorite cards that were in play: Julie had to pretend to be a documentary filmmaker anytime anyone rolled a four, and she had to make a documentary of their turn. When two players landed on the same space they had to "draw" and yell, "This town 'aint big enough for the both of us!" If a phone or the doorbell rang we all had to stand up and yell, "Pizza Party," which doesn't seem especially funny, but it was! Cam and I had to race to make cobras out of paper, and Mike and Julie were the judges. When Cam saw mine he sadly said, "Oh, Jenny's is better." After that we watched a movie and in the morning the boys played playstation (the second picture, they were so funny to watch!) while Juls and I made breakfast. Then we ran down to my parent's house because Stac chopped by hair! I've been wanting to cut it for a while, and Cam helped convince me to cut it by rattling off all these economic principles about why I wasn't enjoying long hair. I love that guy!!! Then we hurried home for a bit and then went to dinner with the Nielsen Family. It was Brandon's birthday on Sunday and so we all went to dinner to celebrate. We went to Mimi's Cafe. Cam and I ate there right after we got married, and it was awful, so we'd never been back, but it was actually quite good! Then we went back to Nielsen's for cake and ice cream, and Faye busted out some home movies, which were hysterical! Cam and I are so lucky to have such awesome families! I'm so grateful for all of them, and I'm grateful that we get to see them often!

Oh, I don't think so Cam!

Well, Cam sabotaged my attempt to take away the bragging rights. He checked my blog while he was at work and then made another post on his. I have nothing to write about. This is terrible. But I must win. Hmmm.... Well, one year ago today, Cam and I were in Taiwan! That was such a fun trip! I am so glad that we got the opportunity to go! I think my favorite city was Er Lin. It was so beautiful! There are a lot of open rice fields there, and it is just a quaint little town. I also loved hanging out with some of the members that Cam knew. On New Year's Eve last year, we went to dinner with some of the members who were in the Xi Hu ward. They were hilarious! We had such a fun time with them. They drove into Tai Chung and surprised us, so we all went to dinner. Here are some of the things that made me laugh during our trip to Taiwan (these will probably only make sense to Cam, but since this post is mostly for him anyway, I figure that's okay): the smiley mints, hi-chews, the blue truck, the van Gogh park, pizza hut, strawberry milk with zhen zhu, the night market, karaoke, making the kids laugh at Sun Moon Lake (the ones playing in the box), sneaking through the forest to touch the water at Sun Moon Lake, the English radio station, the crazy Vietnamese who scared me really bad, dan bings, the gummy bear drink, the guy at the Tai Bei airport that had headphones on and didn't realize that he was yelling at everyone, "Hi, how a you...", the totally inappropriate comments from the old couple in San Ye, "We are family," Kobe, and the video diary. There are so many other things I loved about our trip, but these are the things that make me laugh the most! Hey Cam, we're tied now!

I will not be outdone!

Yesterday Cam was bragging about how he has posted two things to his blog in December. I decided that I won't be outdone that easily. So, here I am, and my sole purpose in creating this post is so that Cam will stop bragging! : ) We were actually laughing about it yesterday because we are terrible at this thing called blogging. Two posts in one month really isn't good. I am waiting to get some prescriptions filled, so I thought I'd take advantage of this opportunity and tie Cam's record. I officially have bronchitis. And all those blood sugar issues (which only a handful of you know about, sorry to those who don't) are okay too. The doctor told me a whole slew of things that the symptoms could be (I shake sometimes), and some of them were pretty serious, so we decided not to tell people until we really knew what was going on. So, nothing is going on! The doctor said he believes that they are benign tremors. If I can make it to age 30 without any of the other symptoms showing up, then I'll be good to go. But we're not home free yet, seeing as how I'm only 22! So, I guess I only have to worry for eight more years! I'm not really worried about it, and he said we could just do the testing if I was, but it's SUPER expensive, and I don't have any of the other symptoms of the more serious issues, so we're just going to call it benign tremors for now, and cross our fingers until I turn 30! I think I might be the first person in the history of the world who will actually be excited to turn 30! At least for now I can be done with all the testing (which wasn't very fun), which is super good news! So yeah, this is a totally random and rambling post, but at least I've taken away Cam's bragging rights! : )
